For those keen on adding a little more adventure, the Pitt Head loop track offers a one-hour detour with sweeping views and a visit to the pristine Te Pukatea Beach. This side track is often a highlight, giving you a quieter spot to enjoy the scenery away from the main trail. It’s a great choice for travellers who enjoy mixing walking with time to relax on the sand.

What makes this option special is the combination of flexibility and variety. You can tailor your day depending on whether you want a relaxed pace with beach time or a more active walk including the loop. Either way, it’s a day that captures the very best of Abel Tasman’s coastal magic.

Apple Tree Bay to Anchorage

• Walking Distance: 8.1 km/5 miles (climb 326m/1,070 feet)
• Walking Time: 2.5-3 hours

Suitability: Suitable for comfortable walking on easy tracks. Remember to bring a light day pack with water and sunblock.

Food & Drinks: Snacks and drinks are available on all our boats.

DEPARTURE & RETURN TIMES:

• Departure Times from Kaiteriteri Beach: 9:00am, 10:30am*
• Pick-up Times at Anchorage: 3:45pm, 5:00pm**
• Arrive Back at Kaiteriteri Beach: 4:20pm, 5:30pm**

*Available during the Summer Season only: From 15th of October to 30th of April

**Available during Peak Summer only: From 1st of December to 31st of March
