Highlights of the Track from Medlands to Anchorage

Heading south towards Anchorage Bay, the trail showcases several highlights worth pausing for. A short track to South Head Lookout rewards hikers with sweeping views of the coastline. Nearby, the steep path to Sandfly Bay leads to a hidden gem where the beach feels wonderfully untouched.

Crossing the famous Falls River bridge is a standout moment on this journey. The suspension bridge swings gently, offering a thrilling vantage point over forest and river. From here, it’s possible to spot kayakers paddling below or even the occasional seal enjoying the water.

Medlands Beach to Anchorage Bay

• Walking Time: 4 hours
• Walking Distance: 10.6 km/6.5 miles (climb 356m/1,170 feet)

• Departure Times from Kaiteriteri Beach: 9:00am, 10:30am*
• Pick-up Times at Anchorage: 1:45pm*, 3:45pm, 5:00pm**
• Arrive Back at Kaiteriteri Beach: 2:10pm*, 4:20pm, 5:30pm**

*Available during the Summer Season only: From 15th of October to 30th of April

**Available during Peak Summer only: From 1st of December to 31st of March
