Starting points include Nelson, Motueka, and Kaiteriteri, giving you the flexibility to choose what suits best. After your walk, convenient pick-ups ensure you return with ease to your base. It’s the perfect balance of adventure and comfort for visitors who want freedom without hassle.

The pass also means you don’t need to commit to just one long hike. Instead, you can enjoy shorter daily walks while still covering much of the park’s iconic track. It’s a flexible, stress-free way to discover one of New Zealand’s most beloved national treasures.

With Abel Tasman Shuttles, you can easily reach the start of each day’s walk and return to Kaiteriteri in comfort at the end of the day. Whether you're after a short stroll or a longer trek, these stunning sections of the Abel Tasman Coast Track showcase golden beaches, lush native bush, and breathtaking ocean views. Here’s a breakdown of the key walking sections to help you plan your perfect itinerary!

Marahau to Anchorage (3h 45m, 11km)

Starting from Marahau, this scenic stretch takes you through lush native bush, across picturesque footbridges, and past golden beaches. The well-formed coastal track offers breathtaking views, with Apple Tree Bay making for a great mid-way rest stop before reaching the beautiful Anchorage Bay.

Marahau to Apple Tree Bay (1h 45m, 5.6km)

A perfect short walk for those wanting a taste of Abel Tasman’s beauty! This section meanders through coastal forest and opens up to panoramic sea views before arriving at Apple Tree Bay—a fantastic spot for a picnic or swim.

Apple Tree Bay to Anchorage (2h 30m, 7km)

Continuing from Apple Tree Bay, this walk winds through lush greenery and alongside secluded coves, offering plenty of picture-perfect moments. Anchorage Bay awaits with its golden sand and crystal-clear waters, an ideal place to relax after your walk.

Anchorage to Torrent Bay (Low Tide: 30m, 1km | High Tide: 1h 30m, 4km)

A quick stroll at low tide or a longer detour at high tide—either way, Torrent Bay is a treat. The shorter route takes you across the tidal flats, while the high-tide track weaves through lush forest, offering fantastic coastal views before descending into the bay.

Anchorage to Medlands Beach (4h, 10.6km)

This stretch takes you deeper into the heart of Abel Tasman, offering a mix of stunning viewpoints, native forest, and inviting beaches. Medlands Beach, a pristine paradise, makes the perfect spot to rest, swim, or simply soak up the tranquillity.

Medlands Beach to Tonga Quarry (2h, 4.1km)

A shorter but rewarding section, this track follows the coastline past rocky outcrops and dense bushland before arriving at Tonga Quarry. This historic site, once used for granite quarrying, now serves as a peaceful beach haven.

Tonga Quarry to Awaroa Lodge (1h 45m, 4.7km)

A gentle walk through lush forest and open coastline brings you to Awaroa, one of the most spectacular beaches in the park. Awaroa Lodge is a great spot to unwind, grab a bite to eat, or even stay overnight.

Awaroa Lodge to Totaranui (3h, 7km)

A stunning finale to your journey, this walk crosses tidal inlets, winds through native bush, and showcases more of Abel Tasman’s pristine beaches. Totaranui, with its vast golden sands and turquoise waters, is the perfect place to finish—or continue your adventure further north!
