Why Falls River Canyoning is an Unmissable Experience
Falls River Canyoning is a full-sensory experience that combines high-flow action with pure New Zealand beauty. You’ll begin with a scenic water taxi ride from Marahau to Torrent Bay, followed by a bush walk to the canyon’s entrance. From there, the descent into Falls River unleashes adrenaline-pumping drops and rapids, all set against the stunning backdrop of Abel Tasman National Park.
This is one of the few canyoning spots in Aotearoa where you truly feel the power of cascading water. With each leap, slide, and swim, you’ll experience nature up close—no ropes, just pure flow. It’s an unforgettable way to explore the park beyond the coastal track, offering a raw, wild take on adventure.
Canyoning by Day, Glamping by Night
After hours of canyoning fun, your day winds down with a walk to Anchorage for a well-earned night in the park. Enjoy nibbles, a drink, and a gourmet meal surrounded by native bush, with nothing but the sounds of wildlife to accompany you. Sleeping in a glamping setup makes this trip a luxurious escape from the ordinary.
If you’re on a tighter schedule, the one-day bare canyoning trip is just as rewarding. You'll start and finish at Torrent Bay, making it easy to integrate into a multi-day adventure in Abel Tasman. Either way, Falls River Canyoning is an experience that will stay with you long after you’ve dried off.
