Wellington Lord of the Rings – Mt Victoria, Outer Shire & Weta Cave

Kick things off with a scenic drive from your Wellington pickup spot straight to Mt Victoria for sweeping city views. From there, you’ll venture into the "Outer Shire", where you'll explore the peaceful forest hideaway made famous by hobbits. It's a perfect setting to relive scenes from the films with your guide sharing behind-the-scenes insights.

The adventure continues at the iconic Weta Cave in Miramar, where film buffs will love browsing the museum and shop. Watch a short documentary that reveals how Peter Jackson and his team brought Tolkien’s world to life. You'll then enjoy the 'Window into the Workshop' experience, showcasing film props and weapons up close, with commentary from the creators themselves.

Itinerary

1.We'll collect you at either 9.30am or 1pm and head for the hills. After soaking in the view from the top of Mt Victoria, we'll make our way to the 'Outer Shire' for our first stop at the Hobbit's Hideaway.

2.Next, we'll visit the Weta Cave in Miramar, where you can explore the museum and shop, and take plenty of photos of the props on display.

3.Following that, you'll experience the intriguing 'Weta Experience', where you'll go behind the scenes and see film props and weaponry, with the artists themselves explaining how the artefacts were created. You'll also gain insight into the world of miniatures and model making.

4.We'll return you to your starting point at either 1:00pm or 4:30pm.
