Scenic Castle Hill Shore Excursion from Lyttelton

Your journey begins at Lyttelton Port before heading west across the Canterbury Plains with views of farmland framed by the Southern Alps. A short stop in Darfield offers the chance to sample local treats, followed by Springfield, where the giant doughnut makes for a fun photo stop. The drive then climbs over Porter’s Pass with its sweeping alpine views before reaching Castle Hill/Kura Tawhiti.

At Castle Hill, your guide will lead you through the limestone boulder fields, sharing stories of their cultural significance and unique geology. A picnic lunch among the rocks provides the perfect setting to take in the scenery before enjoying free time to explore at your own pace.
