Travelling west across the Canterbury Plains, the road soon leads towards the Southern Alps with a short stop at the famous Sheffield Pie Shop—a chance to sample a classic Kiwi pie before continuing to Cave Stream.

At Cave Stream, your guide will provide gear and a full safety briefing before leading you into the 600-metre limestone cave. The underground river flows through wide chambers, small waterfall steps, and narrow passages where you can always stand upright. The adventure concludes with a climb up a five-metre fixed ladder beside the largest waterfall—an exciting finish that makes this a favourite with both families and adventurous travellers.

After the caving experience, enjoy hot drinks and a picnic lunch with mountain views before heading to Castle Hill/Kura Tāwhiti.
