Te Puia, Traditional Hāngī & Volcanic Landscapes
The centrepiece of the day is a visit to Te Puia, home to bubbling mud pools, powerful geysers and the renowned New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute. Here you'll gain insight into Māori traditions while witnessing the skills of carving, weaving and cultural storytelling that continue to be passed down through generations.
A traditional Māori cultural performance is followed by a delicious hāngī buffet lunch, prepared using geothermal cooking methods that have been part of Māori culture for centuries.
Beyond Te Puia, the journey showcases some of Rotorua's most beautiful natural attractions, including native rainforest, the spectacular Kaituna River waterfalls, the Blue and Green Lakes and the stunning shores of Lake Tarawera beneath the shadow of Mount Tarawera.
