- Fitness Level & Terrain – This trek is graded moderate (3) and requires the ability to walk for 4–6 hours daily across uneven terrain, with some steep sections.
- Backcountry Hut Stay – The hut is equipped with bunk beds, a small kitchen, communal areas, and a wood stove. Sleeping bags, liners, and pillowcases are provided. There are no showers, and the toilet is a traditional long-drop.
- Luggage & Packing – Guests should bring a small overnight bag for the hut stay, as not all luggage will be taken into the backcountry. Small overnight packs can be provided. A full packing list will be provided before departure.
- Weather Conditions – The alpine environment can be unpredictable, with strong winds and temperature drops. Layered clothing and sturdy hiking boots are essential.
- Group Size & Experience – This tour operates with small groups to ensure a personalised experience.
- Travel Arrangements – The tour begins in Christchurch and ends in Queenstown. Guests will need to arrange their own transport to Christchurch and from Queenstown at the end of the trip.
- Travel Insurance – Strongly recommended to cover trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and unexpected delays.
- Flights & Transfers – International and domestic flights, as well as arrival and departure transfers.
- Additional Meals & Beverages – Any meals not mentioned in the itinerary, along with personal beverages outside of breakfast.
- Personal Expenses – Costs for shopping, phone calls, internet, laundry, and other personal items.
- Optional Activities – Any activities not specifically listed in the itinerary.
- Gear & Essentials – Guests should bring their own reusable water bottle and any additional trekking gear they may need.
- Travel Documents & Insurance – Any necessary visas and travel insurance, which is highly recommended.
