Experience the best of both worlds on this Forgotten World Rail River Run Tour. Speed down the stunning Whanganui River in New Zealand on a 23km journey to meet the shuttle that will take you to the old Tokirima Station where you board your RailCart for the 30km trip along the rails on your way back to Okahukura.
7:30am Departures
For Forgotten World Rail River Run tours departing 7.30AM. Ride through 10 manually excavated tunnels and over 20 bridges before arriving at the old Tokirima Station where your lunch awaits. Following lunch, our shuttle will take you down to the Ohinepane landing where you board our waiting jet boat for a thrilling 23km ride up the Whanganui River back to Cherry Grove in Taumarunui.
10:30am Departures
Our shuttle will take you down to Cherry Grove for a 23km jet boat ride to the Ohinepane landing down the Whanganui River. Then climb out of the river and climb aboard our shuttle that will take you to the old Tokirima Station where your lunch awaits. Following lunch, get on your RailCart and cycle through 10 manually excavated tunnels and over 20 bridges on your journey to where the line ends in Okahukura. Meet the shuttle there that will take you back to our depot in Taumarunui.

What to bring:
- In this region the weather is changeable and it’s best to prepare for all conditions no matter the season
- Clothing that can be layered, including warm thermal/merino clothing with a good wind/rain jacket or shell is ideal
- It can be very cool in the tunnels even in summer
We suggest you have the following:
- Sunglasses
- Camera
- Binoculars
- Water and extra snacks if required
- Windproof jacket with hood even in fine weather
- Hat, scarf and gloves
- Sturdy footwear with warm socks
- Pack a rainproof coat and over-trousers
- Any personal medication as required
