- Trail Grading and Surface: The 152km trail is graded as introductory (Grade 3), with wide compacted gravel paths, gentle gradients, and a few narrow cattle-stop grates and safety chicanes.
- Fitness and Preparation: A reasonable level of fitness is required; prior experience on gravel trails and multi-day rides is recommended, though E-bikes are available to make the journey easier.
- Accommodation Details: Accommodation includes motels, B&Bs, lodges, or cottages; superior upgrades offer more comfort and character, while economy options are simple and clean—availability may vary by location.
- Optional Add-Ons: Popular additions include curling in Naseby, Hayes Engineering Works, Otago wine tours, Lake Dunstan Trail rides, 4WD backcountry tours, and visits to historic St Bathans and Cambrian.
