Okarito Cruise and Rainforest Walk (2 hr)

Take a cruise across the lake and into the Okarito Kiwi Sanctuary’s protected bays. See the scenery unfold and spot some wildlife from the boat, which will bring you to the far shore where you disembark and start your guided walk into the kiwi sanctuary. Following our rainforest trail designed to transport you to another time, walk amidst the trees in this Jurassic rainforest teeming with bird life. Not surprisingly, this is where the rarest species of kiwi on the planet – the Rowi – lives.

Keep your eyes peeled as your guide directs your attention to birds and share with you everything about the native plant and animal life, along with the kiwi conservation going on in the region.  If you are keen, you may even get to try some edible native plants found along the way.
