Purchase your rental hire online, collect your pass at Guest Services, and visit the friendly rentals team to receive your gear. Please note that gloves, hats, and goggles cannot be rented for health reasons but can be purchased at the retail shop.

The best time to visit Mt Hutt for skiing and snowboarding is typically during the winter season from June to October. Mid-July to mid-September is recommended for the best conditions, with consistent snow coverage and quality. July offers excellent powder and fewer crowds, while August is the peak of the season with a good balance of snow quality and visitor numbers. September is great for spring skiing and longer daylight hours. Mt Hutt opens at 9am daily and closes at 4pm, weather permitting. However, starting from 1 July, "First Tracks" allows first access to the slopes from 8am to 9am on Saturdays and Sundays. To get to Mt Hutt from Christchurch airport, you can follow these options:

By Car: It takes approximately 1.5 hours to drive from Christchurch airport to Mt Hutt. You can rent a car and drive west on State Highway 77 and State Highway 72 towards Methven. From there, it is a 40-minute drive to Mt Hutt. Remember to carry snow chains in your vehicle, as they are required due to the alpine nature of the access road. There is a chain fitting area located at the bottom of the access road.

By Bus: The Mt Hutt Ski Bus operates from both Methven and Christchurch. If you are in Methven, there are two departure times each morning: 7:45 am and 9:45 am. The bus is run by an external company called Methven Travel, and they also offer a pickup service around the Methven Township. It is recommended to book the bus in advance due to limited spacing. Additionally, children aged 10 and under can travel for free with a paying, accompanying adult on the Mt Hutt Ski Bus.
