Known for its crystal-clear lake, majestic beech forests, and rugged mountain ranges, it’s a nature lover’s dream and a perfect spot for those seeking serenity, scenery, and a splash of adventure.

The iconic wooden jetty on Lake Rotoiti is a favourite photo stop, where you might also spot cheeky kea or take a refreshing swim. Kayaking or paddleboarding on Lake Rotoiti is a must-do, offering a peaceful way to take in the mountain reflections and forested shoreline. You can also join scenic cruises or fishing trips on the lake, famous for its brown and rainbow trout. In winter, the nearby Rainbow Ski Area opens up for snow sports, drawing skiers and snowboarders looking for uncrowded slopes and panoramic views.

Back on land, the Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project provides insight into local conservation efforts, and if you're into birdwatching, this is one of the best places to spot native species like tui, bellbird, and robins.
