The itinerary includes five consecutive walking days, with sections graded from easy to advanced. Walkers should be comfortable covering long distances, managing hills and walking for up to six hours or more on some days. Regular walking preparation is recommended before departure.

Published daily distances range from approximately 6 to 20 kilometres, although the exact route may vary according to track conditions and the personalised itinerary. The longer days require good stamina, while the final section is shorter and less demanding.

Four nights are spent in accommodation near Onetangi Beach. Guests return to the same base each evening rather than changing properties, with transport arranged between the accommodation and the relevant trail section.

Return ferry travel between Auckland and Waiheke Island is included, together with transfers to the accommodation and transport to and from the walking route each day.

Self-guided page:
The Private Freedom package does not include a walking guide. Guests receive a personalised itinerary, maps and supporting information, while daily transfers and accommodation logistics are arranged in advance.

Guided page:
The guided package includes an expert local guide who provides route support and interpretation covering Waiheke’s landscapes, ecology, conservation and cultural history.

The guide can meet guests at Matiatia ferry terminal or at another agreed Waiheke Island location.
